Ben & Jodi Clements, BC Insurance Farm and Ranch Producers
Ben and Jodi Clements reside in Stephenville, Texas and are extremely diversified. They are very community oriented and both enjoy being a part of Stephenville and Erath County. They have put down their roots and plan to raise their family and grow their businesses.Ben Clements has traveled coast-to-coast doing what he has done for years, announcing rodeos and team ropings. He’s even jumped across the Pacific Ocean to announce the Hawaii Championships and the Maui Classic.
“I’ve announced all over the place. From Florida to California and from Montana to Texas,” Ben said.
But before he was called to duty working rodeos, his plans were geared toward the medical field. Ben was on the path to become an oral surgeon at Howard College in Big Spring, Texas and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, when one day he came home from college to find his mom and dad helping with the Crane, Texas High School rodeo. The rodeo lacked an announcer for the events and they asked Ben to pitch in.
“I thought, how hard can that be? I stepped in there and helped out with the announcing and it just kinda took off from there,” Ben said.
His plans to become a doctor went out the window and he took up a degree in mass communications and a degree in biology. He also became editor of the college newspaper.
Ben grew up on the K-Bar Ranch in Odessa, Texas, where he and his family worked the cattle portion of the ranch. He competed in rodeo and team roping at an early age. The foundation of his life is that of a ranch and western background.
While still in college, Ben and his sister, Brandi, went on to announce rodeos and formed an announcing and sound business called X-Treme Entertainment.
One day The United States Team Roping Championships brought their event, The West Texas Championships, to Odessa, Texas.
“The gentleman announcing was a friend of mine. So, I helped announce and the next week, they called me and asked if I wanted to do more of that,” Ben said. “I said sure and from there I started announcing for the USTRC while I was still in college.”
When Ben graduated he was approached again by the USTRC.
“They had a position open up in the office. The president of the USTRC called me and asked me if I would be interested and I said yes. I went to work in the office and I handle the scheduling, the affiliate program, and the insurance.”
He moved to the USTRC headquarters in Albuquerque, New Mexico and then in April of 2001 the USTRC office moved to Stephenville, Texas and Ben made the transition. In 2004 Ben took on the job of editor with Super Looper Magazine along with his other duties.
One day he met a young lady whose father produced team ropings in Utah, her name was Jodi Cornia, and they married in 2008. Jodi worked as contract labor for the USTRC as a secretary, timer and as an announcer. Ben and Jodi have two daughters, TyAnn and Ryon, and they are growing up in the mix of things.
Jodi was raised in Northern Utah in the ranching community of Randolph, Utah. She attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah and graduated with a degree in marketing. She eventually made the move to Texas to as the marketing director for a company based in Stephenville, Texas. One thing led to another and Ben and Jodi teamed up.
Today Ben and Jodi and daughters TyAnn and Ryon live in Stephenville, Texas. They have an event production company called X-Treme Team Roping and produce team roping events in Texas and the surrounding states. They enjoy that aspect of it and have used the events as a way to give to local and national charities. They produce some of the most popular team ropings around and have a huge following of team ropers.
“We really enjoy producing events,” said Ben. “We really try to bring team ropers first class events and basically we just do the right thing. Jodi and I work together on this and she is the backbone of our business. She basically handles most everything and I am just along for the ride.”
The family also has a small time ranching and farming business.
"We also have a small cattle operation and raise a little hay," said Ben. "We run a few Angus cows, some Corriente cows and have several lease places around Erath County. Once you have ranching in your blood it just stays. Both my wife and I both grew up on a ranch and I want that back ground for TyAnn and Ryon."
Needless to say, the Clements has a passion for what he does and for the roping and rodeo industry.
"I do wear a lot of hats, but I love the Western way of life and would not change a thing," said Clements. "I enjoy what I do and want to continue to grow and enhance the sport of team roping and rodeo where I can. I like spending time with my family and we do all we can together. We have a good life and have a lot of fun. I started out announcing and so that is certainly one of my passions and something I enjoy. I certainly couldn’t do what I do without a wonderful support staff. My family helps in everything I do and actually they are the ones who should get the credit.”
The next venture for the Clements Clan is insurance. Ben and Jodi are excited to join the BC Insurance of Texas team and grow the insurance business. They are eager to move forward with this venture and look forward to serving you with whatever your insurance needs may be.
